Working closely with Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel, who came to us through Hauser & Wirth, Creative Space developed the first west coast brick-and-mortar store for the highly respected luxury fashion brand Mansur Gavriel. For this flagship store, we operated as developer and executive architect, collaborating with New York-based designer Solveig Fernlund on this flagship retail showroom, cafe, and in-store flower shop located on the incredibly sought-after retail street Melrose Place. We met challenges including clients new to architectural projects, a tight budget, and unexpected practical considerations to produce a space that photographs exceptionally well and elicited tremendous press and social media buzz upon its debut.
Our goal was to create a standout flagship. The storefront’s blush pink facade features a series of cut-outs that draw the eye off the street and towards the brand’s luxuriously produced leather handbags, shoes and ready-to-wear collections which rest on recessed shelves that line the space; a plant-filled café, and sinuous furnishings contrast with a dramatic articulated ceiling.
