Western & Melrose

In 2019, we began working with Zach Lasry and his family on the acquisition and programming of a series of buildings located within Melrose Hill along Melrose and Western Avenues. Situated at the crossroads of some of LA's most storied and diverse neighborhoods: Larchmont / Hancock Park (to the west), Hollywood Studio District (to the north), East Hollywood / Silver Lake (to the east), and Koreatown (to the south). Western & Melrose is a collection of former prop houses and commercial retail buildings dating back to the 1920s.

From the onset, the vision and intent has been to create conditions that enable the organic evolution of the neighborhood into a cultural district. As consultant, broker and developer, we worked closely with the Lasry's to see this shared vision fully realized.

Since our partnership started, we've brought blue-chip gallery David Zwirner* (grand opening May 2024), furniture gallery / showroom Pop Up Home (opened 2023), critically acclaimed restaurants Ggiata Delicatessen, Kuya Lord, Ètra and Café Telegrama as well as a still-growing community of more than twenty users in art, media, fashion, fitness, nightlife, and food & beverage.

(*) Creative Space was also simultaneously the developer of the 28,000 SF, four-building outpost for David Zwirner, their first on the West Coast.
